Building Something Beautiful: Kirtan Soul Revival’s First Full-Length Album
We want more love, connection, joy and healing in the world. This is our inspiration and intention in offering our music. Join us in creating our first full record and make this vision a reality! Click on the link below to go to our Kickstarter page and find out more about our project.
Kirtan Soul Revival is so excited to announce that we are recording our first full-length album and we are asking you to collaborate with us by investing in our vision. Our goal is to reach as many people as possible with our unique offering of soulful, spirit-filled, funky, love-infused music. There are two important ways that you can partner with us to bring this music into the world:
- By essentially buying the album in advance – and donating more if you can. :)
- By sharing this project with as many people as you can – through Facebook, Twitter and personal email. Let them know why you believe in our music and want it to be supported!
Kirtan Soul Revival is so excited to announce that we are recording our first full-length album and we are asking you to collaborate with us by investing in our vision. Our goal is to reach as many people as possible with our unique offering of soulful, spirit-filled, funky, love-infused music. The kind of music we play, based on kirtan (a form of participatory sacred music from India) is the practice of chanting mantras – powerful energy-based sounds that help facilitate a deeper spiritual connection within ourselves, to others, and to the world around us. We incorporate English language original music, spirituals and music from around the globe to create a dynamic sound that merges funk, rock, rhythm and blues, world grooves and chants, all infused with lush three-part harmonies.

We have led kirtans in and around New York City (including Integral Yoga Institute and Jivamukti Yoga), toured throughout New England (including stops at Kripalu), and have played festivals such as BhaktiFest, VerMantra, and Berwick Yoga Festival in Nova Scotia. Wherever we go, we are overwhelmed by the incredible response to our music. People are longing for this kind of spirit-filled music in their lives. We have received feedback that our music is “deeply transformational.” Other participants have shared: “It brought me to tears.” “I felt so blessed and guided by your music.” “Thank you for the blessing coming so genuinely from your hearts.”
In this last year we have had the opportunity to record with inspiring kirtan wallahs such as Krishna Das, The Hanumen, and Prema Hara. All of these experiences have prepared us for the practicalities of making a record. The money you pledge will help pay for:
Recording (engineer, studio time and musicians)
Mixing (engineer mixes each song so that all the various instruments and vocals sound good together)
Mastering (engineer makes the CD sound good as a whole, so it jumps out of your speakers)
Design and Layout (graphic artist makes the CD beautiful)
Manufacturing (production and packaging of the physical CDs)
Our new CD will be recorded in a live setting to capture the energy of the in-person experience of our kirtans. It will include new and improved versions of previously released songs such as Ganesha Sharanam and Om Guru/Sea of Love; we will record favorites like I Release and I Let Go; and add some brand new chants as well. We are blessed to have some amazing guest musicians lending their talents to this project.
Crowdfunding gives you an opportunity to invest in projects that are meaningful to you. By lending your energy (through your financial support) towards the creation of this album, you are helping to bring more healing, joy and connection into the world. Or, think about it this way – you buying the album in advance, helps us make it!
In exchange for your donations, we have some beautiful offerings for you: signed copies of the new CD; a song written just for you; a private guitar, ukulele or yoga lesson; or even a private KSR house concert. As a supporter, you’ll get the inside scoop on what the recording process looks and sounds like, as we post updates, photos, videos, music, etc. along the way.
This project will only be funded if we meet our goal of $10,000. If you believe that this music has a healing, uplifting and transformative power that the world needs, then please donate generously. You can also help by sharing this link with your network of friends and family (through e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) We are deeply grateful for all of your love and support, and we’re really looking forward to sharing this experience with you!
Thank you so much for being a catalyst for joy and love in the world.
Love and Gratitude,
KSR (Calia Marshall, Helen Styring Tocci & Todd Keller)
We are so excited to participate in Krishna Das’ debut album on his new label Krishna Das Music! We head into the studio this October to lend our voices to his response choir. To learn more about this project, contribute to making the music happen and get updates on the process, check out his Kickstarter Campaign “From My Heart to Yours”.
We truly had a truly divine experience at the Berwick Yoga Festival in Nova Scotia! The organizers and participants alike were so generous, loving, humble and are masterful at holding space in which beautiful things are created. (photos by the lovely Shayna Piercy)
We also got to spend some magical time making music, playing, and experiencing the gorgeousness of Nova Scotia with the incredibly talented and generous musicians (and wonderful friends) SuryaChandra!
